Woodland Park Dance Brings Seniors Together

WOODLAND PARK, N.J. — The annual Woodland Park Valentine's Day dance for seniors means celebrating decades of love for some couples, but it could bring opportunity for singles as well.

"You never know, you could meet somebody," said Kelly Spinalli of the recreation department, sponsoring the event.

Around 100 people attend the free dance each year, which will be held Saturday, Feb. 6 at 12:30 p.m. at the senior center.

More woman attend than men, Spinalli said. Last year a couple celebrated their 50th anniversary together at the dance, she said.

A DJ, food, raffles and dancing help entertain the guests.

"They absolutely look forward to it every year," Spinalli told Daily Voice. "They all dress up. The ladies come in their big red bonnets and they dress in red and white."

The Woodland Park mayor and council, the recreation department, and senior services co-sponsor the event.

This year, an ice cream bar will be added to the festivities.

"I think that's going to be a big hit," Spinalli said. "I think they'll be like little kids and they'll enjoy it."
